Who we are

Ecodex is a wildlife themed card game, and this website exists to promote and sell it, as well as to provide useful hints and tips for wildlife adventures. Our website address is: https://ecodex.org.uk.

Comments

When visitors leave comments or reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Mailing List

Ecodex will collect email addresses (only with the express permission of the owner of the address) in a number of ways – i.e. through contact forms, after checkout, or through Kickstarter campaigns etc. These will only be used to send essential emails or infrequent marketing emails to inform about new product launches or deals. At any time you will be able to unsubscribe from these emails. We will never send this information to any other third party.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data from a website that is stored within a web browser that the website can retrieve at a later time. The Ecodex website uses a handful of these to make your experience of the site as streamlined as possible, and to provide helpful information as well. The cookies are split into ‘Necessary’, which are required for the running of the site, and ‘Non-Necessary’, which can be turned off by whenever you like. If you would like to revist your preferences, click this link and then use the banner at the bottom of the screen: Manage consent

Necessary cookies include three cookies by ‘Stripe’, the service we use for payments. These cookies are used to recognise customers (i.e. to remember what’s in your basket) and to help with processing payments. There are 5 cookies which are created by our GDPR cookie consent feature. These remember what you said about which cookies you would like enabled or disabled. Finally, there is one cookie created by WooCommerce, which is the eCommerce system that we use on the site.

Non-Necessary cookies include 5 cookies created by ‘Jetpack’. This is the analytics system that we uses, and records information like where you are visiting from, how long you were on the site for and what pages you visited. These can be turned off. This information is used partly so I can be excited that people visited the site from Taiwan and Australia, but also so that I know which bits of the site need improved. If many visitors don’t stay long, I know the site needs to be better. Also, if many visitors come from (for example) Greece I might look into making a pack for that region.

For full information about the cookies and how long they are stored on your computer, please click the ‘manage consent’ link above and click on ‘Cookie Settings’.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. For example, if there is an embedded YouTube video, then YouTube might collect data on you as if you were on that website. For that reason I will try and avoid embedding content where possible. As with all non-essential cookies, you will be able to opt out of these.

Who we share your data with

We will never share any personal data (emails, phone numbers, addresses etc.) with any third party. This information will only be used for shipping, essential communication about orders, or for advertising purposes by Ecodex (i.e. letting you know a new product has been released).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment or review, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue, and so that we can have a ful record of all reviews that have been left.

For users that register on our website (if this functionality is added in the future), we will also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users will be able to see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or reviews, or are on a mailing list/have purchased a product, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
